Joseph Nicholas Gallo…was the 2012 Nevada Gatorade State Player of the Year at Bishop Gorman (NV) High School, leading the Gaels to their 7th consecutive Nevada 4A state title, hitting .509 with 21 HR, 80 RBI, 66 runs, and 13 stolen bases…set a new Nevada single-season record, while his 65 career HR are the most in state history…also appeared on the mound, tossing a no-hitter in his senior campaign…father, Tony, pitched in the Montreal farm system and worked as a pitching instructor at batting cages owned by former major leaguer Jason Giambi…has spent time in previous offseasons training with Giambi…was tabbed by Baseball America as the Best Power Hitter and having the third-best arm among high school draft prospects…had committed to Louisiana State University.

After an outstanding April and May that resulted in his 1st All-Star selection, Gallo played in just 20 of the Rangers' final 106 games, none of the last 61, due to injuries…had a .253 batting average in 70 total games after entering 2019 with a .203 career mark…among A.L. players with at least 250 plate appearances, ranked 5th in SLG (.598), 6th in OPS (.986), and 9th in OBP (.389)…had the 12th-highest OPS and SLG in team history (250+ PA)…posted best BB/K ratio (0.46) and recorded highest pct. of pitches taken (59.2%) of his career.

ALL-STAR SUCCESS: Named to A.L. All-Star team for the first time as a players' selection in 2019 and played the final 4 innings in RF in 7/9/19 ASG at CLE…homered off SF's Will Smith in only plate appearance in 7th inning for final run in A.L.'s 4-3 win…became the 21st player to homer in his 1st career All-Star AB (19th in 1st PA) and the 5th Ranger to go deep in the Midsummer Classic, joining Ruben Sierra in 1992 at SD; Hank Blalock in 2003 at CWS; Alfonso Soriano in 2004 at HOU; and Mark Teixeira in 2005 at DET.

Saw action in 17 games over 3 stints with Texas (5/23- 27, 7/26-30, 9/6-end of season) and spent bulk of campaign at Triple-A Round Rock…batted .040 (1-25) with 19 SO in 25 at-bats, lone hit being a HR on 7/26 vs. OAK…finished season on 0-for-22 skid after the HR, including strikeouts in his final 13 official AB (4 BB) with Texas…made 5 starts: 3-DH, 1-1B, 1-3B…his 1.58 PA/SO was lowest figure in the divisional era (since 1969) by a non-pitcher with 30+ plate appearances in a season.

2015

Made major league debut and batted .204 (22-108) with 6 HR and 14 RBI in 36 games over two stints with Texas: June 2-29 and Sept. 1-end of season…season debut was delayed until April 25 following surgery on April 3 to remove the os trigonum bone in his left ankle…was in major league spring training with the Rangers for the first time, batting .250 (8-32) with two home runs and 6 RBI in 15 games before he was assigned to minor league camp on March 23.

2014

Named to the Baseball America Minor League All-Star Team, combining to bat .271 (119-439) with 42 HR and 106 RBI in 126 games with Myrtle Beach (A+) and Frisco…fell one home run shy of the overall minor league lead behind fellow Las Vegas native Kris Bryant… also ranked among the overall minor league leaders in RBI (4th), SLG (4th, .615), walks (T5th, 87), and OPS (7th, 1.009)… chosen as the MVP of the All-Star Futures Game in Minneapolis after belting a go-ahead, 2-run HR off Houston prospect Michael Feliz in the 6th inning…opened season with Myrtle Beach and won Carolina League MVP honors despite playing his final game in the league on 6/6…was a mid-season Carolina League All-Star…led the league with 21 HR despite appearing in 58 of Myrtle Beach's 138 games…with the Pelicans, won Rangers Minor League Player of the Month in both April and May and 3 of the first 4 Carolina League weekly awards…finished 2nd in the Texas League with 21 home runs despite less than 3 months in Frisco…played first game on 6/9 and still trailed league leader Houston prospect Telvin Nash by just one long ball…named to the TL Postseason All-Star team…ranked among the Double-A leaders in home runs (3rd), RBI (3rd), and SLG (10th, .524) from 6/9 through the end of the season.
